While many luxury good retailers struggle for survival in the United States, Italian-based fashion house, Prada, has seen sales triple over the past nine months. Sales have been particularly high in Asia, increasing more than 51 percent. Prada’s U.S. sales haven’t been so shabby either, showing a 27 percent increase during the same time period.
Perhaps, U.S.-based luxury goods brands can take a page from the Prada book of how to thrive during a recession.

Legendary fashion brand, Ralph Lauren, is set to stage a spectacular “light installation” on New York City’s Madison Avenue. According to Mashable.com, the marketing rollout was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic brand’s e-commerce platform and to introduce its e-commerce site in the United Kingdom.
The show, which begins at 8 p.m./EST in NYC and London, will last a total of 10 minutes.

Now in its sixth year, Fashion Focus Chicago kicked off earlier this week on Oct. 18. For those who want to see what local designers have to offer, it’s not too late. Although the event officially concludes tomorrow, there are many events taking place today until 6 p.m. For local designers who want to get involved, keep an eye on Chicago Fashion Resource for upcoming opportunities.
Tomorrow’s roster includes Education Day hosted by the Mayor’s Fashion Council and the 2nd Annual Vert Couture Fashion Show.
