Back in the good old days, book authors would be forced to share profits with large publishing houses that often stood to make more than the authors themselves. Now, with new electronic, self publishing options, authors are able to minimize costs, while increasing profits and sidestepping shady deals. And good news: according to a recent New York Times story, electronic books are outselling old-fashioned paperback and hardcover books.
